Prayer at Spirit of Hope
The Prayer Ministry is dedicated to provide a church-wide foundation of prayer and opportunity for church members to grow in their relationship with God. For personal prayer, there is a Prayer Garden with a Labyrinth, and a prayer wall. There are periodic classes to learn more about prayer, and committees and outreach programs committed to being based in prayer.
In our worship services we always offer personal prayer ministry.
If you have a need, we have a variety of groups who will lift your concerns to God. You may access the prayer chain by calling 623-979-0080 or email where several groups of people are always available to lift your concerns to God.
Missions Team
Mission has become the centerpiece of SOH. We love to serve our neighbors and the world, sharing Christ’s love in a variety of ways. We are actively working with several charities–Crisis Nursery, a domestic violence shelter, Habitat for Humanity (our fifth build), United Methodist Outreach Ministries’ homeless shelter for families, Justa Center (a community center for homeless senior adults) , and UMCOR–the United Methodist Committee on Relief, which provides massive amounts of disaster relief, food, and shelter throughout the world. This year for the first time we participated in the City of Peoria’s Paint-a-thon.
Our Mission Team is growing–come join us!

Worship and Music
Worship is the place we come to meet Christ and grow in love and service. We are always on the search for creative ways to experience Christ’s love within our worship. We have two very different services. Communion is offered at both services each week.
The 9:00 service is traditional with the good old hymns and our wonderful Celebration Choir. The choir is led by Gerrit Boglio and accompanied by Rhonda Vogt.
If you are interested in joining the choir, they meet on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 PM. Contact Gerrit Boglio for more information.
The 10:30 service is contemporary with a praise band under the leadership of Bill Gouge. If you are interested in serving on the praise team they meet on Thursdays at 7:00. Contact Bill for further information.
If you’d like to be a part of worship planning and support, we would love to have you. This area would include visual arts, technological support, sound, ushers, communion servers and liturgists, and all areas of worship enhancement

Membership and Evangelism Team
This newly reformatted team is seeking new ways to be the Body of Christ both within and outside the church. Fellowship opportunities, outreach into the community, welcoming new members, and caring for the homebound are just some of their concerns. Last July 4th we hosted about 350 guests from the community at our first ever “July 4th Fireworks Event. All enjoyed our great SOH hospitality, our praise band, free food and drinks, and a fun time. This fall, we hosted a Halloween “Trunk or Treat” event.

Adult Studies
A variety of programs are offered to further the spiritual formation of adults.
Life Changing Bible Studies meet Wednesdays at 2 and Saturday mornings at 8:30 at Starbucks, NW corner of 75th Avenue and Thunderbird. This is a structured “read through the Bible in a year” program that seeks daily to pose the question: “How will I be different today because of what I have just read?” The emphasis is on personal discernment and sharing insights in a group. This method can be seen at www.lifejournal.cc.
The Alpha Class is offered twice annually. This is a “beginner’s” course in basic Christianity (Or a review, for the more experienced Christian) especially designed for persons whose church experience or experience with Christ is limited. A free meal is offered each session, and all questions are welcomed.
The women’s Friday Bible study group has met for 17 years, and meets at 11:00 a.m., in the Fireside Room. These dedicated women are passionate about Bible study and dig deep into scripture using a variety of Biblical resources.
